FUN FACTS

Red Footed Tortoises are in the turtle family, but are very different in many ways. Like all Tortoise species, they cannot swim as turtles can, but would sink if they ventured too far into deep water. Tortoises are also Herbivores & have no meat in their diet, whereas turtles are either omnivores (eating both meat & plants) or carnivores (eating only meat). Furthermore, as a general rule, Tortoises have a rounded, dome-like shell, & turtles have a flat shell, though there are a couple of exceptions to this rule.
