FUN FACTS

Owls are amazing at seeing and hearing in the dark! They can easily see fine details over 100 yards away in order to detect prey when they are hunting at night. Their eyes are so large that they do not move in their sockets, so in order to look around, an owl must rotate its head. They can turn their head 270 degrees out of 360, and do so with the help of a very flexible neck which contains 14 vertebrae. They also have sensitive a-symmetrical ears that help to pin-point where their food is located. Even if an animal is not moving, owls can detect them by listening to their heartbeat. They pick up their prey with their strong feet and long sharp talons. Eurasian Eagle Owls can hunt animals as large as small deer!
