FUN FACTS

Pekin Ducks are the most popular domestic duck in the world, and originate from China. They were first brought over to the United States in the 1800’s, and were primarily intended for food purposes. They are one of the largest and heaviest breeds of duck, and often weigh 10 or 12 pounds! Since they are so heavy, they are strictly ground-dwelling and can not fly. However, they do swim well, thanks to their waterproof feathers, large webbed feet, and buoyant bodies.
